Medjool Date Whole Grain and Oat Bars


  • ¼ cup (65 mL) unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup (55 g) light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup (85 g) honey
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 cups (200 g) old fashioned (rolled) oats
  • 1 cup (85 g) whole grain oat cereal (such as Cheerios)
  • ½ cup (90 g) Natural Delights Medjool Dates, pitted and chopped


  1. Line an 8 inch square (20 cm x 20 cm) baking dish with foil or parchment paper, pressing firmly into the corners. 
  2. Stir together the honey and butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 2 minutes or until the sugar dissolves. 
  3. Stir together the oats, cereal and dates in a large bowl. Stir in the butter mixture until the cereal is thoroughly coated. Press firmly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. Let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes or until set. Remove from the pan by lifting the foil or parchment; cut into bars.
