Medjool Date Homemade Spiced Rum


  • 1 bottle 1,750 ml of quality dark rum
  • 2 allspice berries
  • 1 whole cardamom pod
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 3 whole black peppercorns
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 4 strips of orange peel
  • 1 whole vanilla bean
  • 8 whole coffee beans
  • 3 Natural Delights® Medjool dates, pitted and cut in half lengthwise


  1. Combine all ingredients in a clean glass bottle with a good sealing lid. Leave in a cool, dark place for 24 hours. After 24 hours or so, gently swirl the bottle then let it sit for another 24 hours. 
  2. Strain the mixture into a large, clean bowl using a mesh strainer with a triple piece of cheese cloth placed inside the strainer. If you have a large bowl with a pour spout, that would be ideal. Rinse and dry the original glass bottle that you already used. Pour the strained spiced rum back into the bottle and seal with the lid. Store for later use or use right away to make Medjool Date Blood Orange Spiced Rum Punch or any other cocktail that calls for spiced rum!
