Medjool Date Paste

Medjool Date Paste

  • 2 cups (350 g) Natural Delights Medjool Dates, pitted, coarsely chopped (about 20 dates)
  • ½ cup (125 mL) very hot water

An excellent natural sugar substitute, spread on bread or toast in place of jam. Also great served with a pork roast, ham or chicken.

  1. Place the dates and water in a food processor. Process until fairly smooth to make a coarse paste, or process longer to make a creamy paste, scraping down the sides as necessary.
  2. Store tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

Tip: To make a spiced date paste, stir together ½ cup (28 g) of date paste and ¼ tsp. of cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice or ground ginger.

Makes about 1 3/4 cups
